Mother´s Day and Why I am not a Poet

In honor of Mother´s Day I decided to write a poem about my mom, so I sat down and this is what I came up with:
                                                                      aMazing
                                                                extraOrdinary
                                                                       Mother

I am so talented. So instead of amazing you more with my poetry skills, I decided to write about things my mom has taught my that have helped me on my mission.

  1. How to Work - The mission wasn´t as hard of an adjustment for me as it seems to be for others. I think a lot of that has to do with seeing my mom´s example. My mom NEVER stops working. I remember that we would finally convince her to stop for a while and watch a movie with us at home, but she would just fall asleep because she was so exhausted from everything else that she has done during the day.
  2. Playing Piano - It is so much fun to play piano in front of a large audience every week with 30 minutes to practice beforehand, but I definitely prefer playing to singing without a piano. My mom worked very hard to get me to play the piano. I remember hiding in closets some days to try and avoid playing, but she persevered, because she´s my mom, and now I am one of the few missionaries who can play the piano.
  3. How to Cook - This has definitely got to be the best thing my mom has done for me here in the mission. I made pancakes this last week and they were BEYOND AWESOME. haha it felt really good to make something from home. I have made them 4 times this week. Overkill? yes. Delicious? Oh Yeah. I also make a lot of other things, like today I tried my hand at Flan, which is a native dessert that is really good.
  4. How to Clean - Let´s just say I am a stark contrast from the majority of elders.
  5. How to Love Others - My mom is amazing. She is always doing something to help me or one of my many siblings, and when there is eight of us, that is no easy feat. She is always serving and through her I have learned that service is the best way to love others.
I LOVE YOU MOM!!

Thought - ´´All that I am, and all that I hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.´´ - Abraham Lincoln

Alma 56: 46 For as I had ever called them my sons (for they were all of them very young) even so they said unto me: Father, behold our God is with us, and he will not suffer that we should fall; then let us go forth; we would not slay our brethren if they would let us alone; therefore let us go, lest they should overpower the army of Antipus.

47 Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.

48 And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it.
