June 24, 2013 I'm Learning How to Juggle

I´m Learning How to Juggle!

I got a letter from a friend who told me about a teacher who was teaching his students how to juggle.  He told his students that every time they dropped a ball not to feel bad, but instead shout ´´YEA I´m LEARNING HOW TO JUGGLE!!´´  Well I am not really learning how to juggle, but I do ´drop the ball´ sometimes and so I think I am going to be yelling that a lot!

I LOVED the broadcast yesterday.  I feel such a renewal of energy and excitement with these inspired changes and enhancements.  I hope everyone has seen the broadcast.  I felt the spirit super strong when they talked about family history.  We are teaching a woman who is super interested, but her husband not so much because of his catholic roots.  I learned last week that we have a family history center here!  I talked with him about family history and he was very interested.  We are going to take him there soon and then baptize him!  Mua ha ha.

This week Elder Ortiz has had a serious case of the sniffles, well, its a bit more serious than that, but I have had to leave him in the care of a member for a few hours so that I could go out and contact our investigators.  We have SO many good things happening in our area!  A half drunk man said ´´Hello Elder´´ to me in the street Tuesday.  I stopped and talked to him. (I wasn´t sure if he was drunk or crazy or neither at first).  We went and talked to his wife who was sick.  We had a great short lesson and left a Book of Mormon.  When I passed by yesterday, they were very happy to talk with us again.

Monday I went to the Double Arches for the first time in a year.  I had a Chicken Bacon Onion Sandwich.  First time having bacon in more than a year.  WONDERFUL.  A lot better than I remembered McDonalds being . . . hmm

Happy Juggling!

June 17, 2013 Happy Father's Day

I learned a lot this week.  A lot of cool experiences.  I don´t have much time to write because we have to go downtown to look up prices for a few items that we need to buy for the apartment that we are going to be moving into.
Last night I had a remarkable experience doing divisions.  We had a lot of people fudge us last night because people were celebrating Father’s Day.  We ended up passing by a less active member who we hadn´t planned on visiting before.  We talked about the parable of the Good Samaritan.  He was impressed with the charity that Christ has for us and the spirit was very strong.  The Brother told us about some health problems he had been having and asked us a lot of questions about the plan of salvation.  I felt the spirit prompt me strongly to tell him that his life had been preserved so that he could prepare the temple work for his ancestors.  We are going to be passing by Tuesday to explain more about Family History.
Have a great week!

June 10, 2013 Tucuman

Tucuman

I am very excited to be in a new area.  Elder Ortiz is my new companion.  He is a convert, he was baptized three years ago.  He is from Nicaragua and is very focused on families.  He and his last companion worked a lot on reactivation.  I am excited to learn from him.

We live in a small apartment with two other Elders.  Elder Trinidad, who was trained by Elder Gillis (My 2nd Companion here), and Elder Harmon, who was in my district in Santa Ana.  Crazy and cool to see familiar faces.

We went straight to work and had a baptism this week!  He is super cool!  He is a student (I live right next to a University) and actually is really interested in being a missionary.  I am excited for him.  We had a Family Home Evening with him last week with some members.  On Thursday he is going with a member of the Elders Quorum Presidency to do some visits. I am excited for this ward.

I am learning a lot right now in my mission.  I need to focus more in my studies.  Moving is hard because I really haven´t unpacked yet . . . haha.  I don´t know how much I will unpack because we might be moving soon to another apartment.  (I don´t know how I end up moving apartments in every area that I go to . . . it just happens.)

One OUTSTANDING family that we are starting to work with the the The dad is amazing, and his daughter who is 10 wants to be baptized.  Sounds good to me.  Probably next week if Mom approves.  (Prayers please?)

Anyways.  That´s what´s going on with me. Have a great week!

June 3, 2013 Quick Note - Tucumán!

Hey!

I am being transferred to Tucumán!  Yeahhhh.  I wish I could write a lot.  Parting an area is sad, but I am more excited to see a new area.  I feel good about the work we have done here.  I am sorry I don´t have time to write,  I have a ten hour bus ride to catch!

Elder Lippold and I are both going to have native companions.

Love you all!
